My second aim...is to get you to achieve a consistent level of driving competence in order to allow you to drive completely around any of the official test routes without losing concentration and making silly mistakes.  Let's not give the 'examiner' any ammunition to shoot us with!

Independant Driving - What's that?

On 4th October 2010 the DSA are introducing a new section into the driving test called 'Independant Driving'.  Instead of two reverse manoeuvres as at present, you will only be required to perform one reverse manoeuvre (but of course you won't know which manoeuvre until you're asked to perform it), and with the time saved from that and in it's place will be the 'Independant Driving' section.  After being asked to pullover and stop, you will be asked to either follow directions on sign posts, follow a series of verbal directions or a combination of both.  This section is designed to last about 10 minutes.  And believe me, it really is simple!  A better alternative to two reverse manoeuvres!  Pupils who have already been prepared for their test using independant driving have found it to be really easy.  This is a positive step towards future road safety for everyone, but if you are still unsure, worried, concerned or just don't understand how it will work, then please just give me a call and I'll put you at your ease.  You can also check-out the official DSA video for 'Independant Driving' on 'Youtube'.  Good luck!
